Celebrate 4th of July on Hilton Head Island.

29-Jun-2012 There's nothing quite like spending a summer holiday weekend on beautiful Hilton Head Island! The July 4th (fourth) holiday weekend on Hilton Head Island promises to be a “big bang’ for the whole family with lots of planned activities and fireworks displays – you won’t want to miss all of the fun on Hilton Head Island!

One of the best things about a vacation on Hilton Head is that you can do as much or as little as you want to during your visit to the Island. If relaxing is your thing, renting a beachfront vacation home or villa may be just the ticket to help you de-stress and unwind. Kick back on one of our pristine beaches and let the Lowcountry tides wash away your stress or enjoy a refreshing dip in an ocean side pool with your favorite cocktail! If you’re looking to be in the middle of the action for the July 4th holiday, a harbourside villa vacation rental at Shelter Cove Harbour or Sea Pines’ Harbour Town will put the action at your doorstep!

What July 4th Celebration would be complete without fireworks?! Hilton Head hosts 3 fireworks displays around  the Island in honor of the holiday celebration. Each Island location offers a variety of entertainment and activities the whole family will enjoy!

Skull Creek

Starting at 9:30 pm, the fireworks will be launched from a barge in the Intracoastal Waterway/Skull Creek. Join Hudson’s Seafood House on the Docks, Chart House or the Skull Creek BoathouseI for live, outside entertainment beginning at 6:00 pm.  Of course, food and beverage will be available at all three locations. No coolers, please.

Harbour Town

Harbour Town will celebrate the fourth with a variety of festivities.  Children’s activities, live music, food and beverage will be available as well as the fireworks display.  The fireworks will begin about 9:15 (dusk) from a barge in Calibogue Sound.  There is a $5.00 gate fee to enter the resort (unless you are a resident or guest staying on the resort) and a free shuttle service will be offered between Harbour Town and various parking lots in the Sea Pines Resort.  No coolers, please.

Shelter Cove Harbour
Shelter Cove Harbour offers a HarbourFest celebration featuring special patriotic selections performed by Shannon Tanner at 6:30 and 8:00 pm.  The fireworks display will begin right after dusk.  For the convenience of home & villa guests staying in the Palmetto Dunes Oceanfront Resort, the Palmetto Dunes Buggy will continue operating until after the fireworks display is concluded.

Summer is also a great time to take part in one of our many Island events and festivals. Popular summer festivities include HarbourFest, which features live entertainment seven nights a week, plus food, arts and crafts, fireworks and other activities, Shannon Tanner’s (shown right)  Interactive Family Friendly Shows every night at Shelter Cove Harbour, The Hilton Head Art Festival, The Summer Jams at Shelter Cove Park, and The Summer Exploration Series at the Coastal Discovery Museum. For those seeking adventure, take a dolphin cruise, explore our wildlife refuge and hiking trails, go parasailing, or visit nearby Daufuskie Island. Sports lovers will enjoy our championship golf courses, award winning racquet clubs and a friendly game of beach volleyball behind the "Tiki Hut" on South Forest Beach.

Please remember that Town of Hilton Head ordinances prohibit the discharge of fireworks within town limits and specifically from the beach. There will be strict enforcement.
