Celebrate Our Fresh Local Bounty at the Hilton Head Seafood Fest

24-Apr-2011 The South Carolina Lowcountry and Hilton Head Island is known for its bounty of fresh local seafood. One visit to any of our many great local restaurants and we’re certain you’ll agree with us when we stake claim to some of the best seafood around! We love our local seafood and our fine restaurants that serve it up so much that we think it is worthy of a celebration of its own!

Come help us celebrate our wonderful local cuisine at the “4th Annual Hilton Head Island Seafood Fest”  at the Shelter Cove Community Park on April 30, 2011 from 11:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Sample some of the Island’s best seafood from our area restaurants and see for yourself why it is a favorite of locals and visitors of the Island.

A favorite tradition of the Seafood Fest is the “Iron Chef Competition” where local chefs compete, just like they do on the popular “Food Network” TV show. The chefs will be presented with “mystery baskets” containing a variety of ingredients, which will include two selections of local seafood
ingredients. They will have one hour to create an appetizer and an entrée then will receive votes from the panel of judges on taste, creativity, presentation and composition.  The winners will receive prizes and trophies, and bragging rights until next year’s event!

In addition to the fine local seafood creations, there will be live music, the famous crab races, cooking demonstrations and a Kids Zone. The $5 admission fee and a silent auction will benefit The David M. Carmines Memorial Foundation, which supports the American Cancer Society, M. D. Anderson Cancer Research Center, and the Island Recreation Scholarship Fund.
