Hilton Head Island Golf Course Spotlight: Ocean Course Sea Pines

Vicki Shivers - Sunday, September 27, 2015

Sea Pines Ocean CourseThe Ocean Course at The Sea Pines Resort has the honor of being Hilton Head Island’s first golf course. The popular Hilton Head course is as challenging as it is beautiful, and is among the most popular courses on the Island. Redesigned in 1995 by former PGA Tour pro Mark McCumber, Ocean Course places an emphasis on traditional and classic principles of golf course design.

The natural beauty of Sea Pines Ocean Course makes it a fast favorite of anyone who plays it and it is actually a certified "Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary, " only the fourth in the state of South Carolina and 187th in the world to achieve this designation. The strategic placement of the many lagoons and bunkers ensures the course will be challenging yet playable for golfers of every skill level.

The 15th hole, the signature hole of Ocean Course, boasts an oceanfront view that is absolutely breathtaking! This par 3 has an elevated tee and the green is protected by several collection areas and two bunkers on the right. Ocean Course is a fun, challenging and scenic course that inspires golfers and leads to a love of the beauty of the SC Lowcountry.
